Stories are gifts. Share.

Starbuck's 2010 Christmas Slogan

Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.

– Benjamin Franklin

The personal narrative is a mighty beast. A story, with its honesty and intimacy, reaches across the gap between speaker and listener and builds a connection based on their common humanity. The ability to establish this connection is what makes storytelling such a powerful tool for professional communicators.

I can show you how to do it.

Storytelling in a corporate context is neither dropping in the odd joke to loosen up the crowd nor cramming that anecdote about Uncle Arnold’s Labor Day barbecue in between your slides. A story is a complete narrative, with a beginning, middle and end, where the main character undergoes a change.

Whether you are pitching a new product, trying to convince a venture capitalist to invest in your startup or explaining to your board of directors why they should keep your plant open, the right story takes your audience on a journey with you that allows you, in ways that a slide deck just can’t, to communicate your themes and ideas. Powerfully. Simply. Effectively.

I offer customizable workshops to corporate communicators and independent professionals, workshops designed to teach you and your team the fundamentals of storytelling and how to apply those skills in a wide range of business settings. I also provide one-on-one coaching and story development services for individual presentations.

Additionally, I can produce storytelling shows for your corporate events, with themes tailored to your needs, featuring a customized lineup of professional storytellers, your own employees or a combination of the two.

Professional video and audio recording of all workshops and events is also available.
